Eye Pillow and Relaxation
I recently had the pleasure of trying a de Linum eye pillow. Having practised yoga and various kinds of meditation for the last 20 years and teaching for the last 8 years, I was delighted to find that this eye pillow aided the process of relaxation.
Studies have found that gentle pressure on the eyes, as provided by the eye pillow, stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system - our "rest and digest" response. As well, clinical psychologists have told us that gently weighted masks can increase the production of serotonin and melatonin, improving both mood and sleep, respectively.
I would recommend an eye pillow to anyone who would like to use it to assist in deepening their practice.
